Celonis

Celonis was founded in Munich in 2011 by Alexander Rinke, Bastian Nominacher and Martin Klenk, then students at the Technical University of Munich; Rinke and Nominacher lead it as co-CEOs. Celonis SE is privately held, with headquarters in Munich and New York.

It built its business on process mining: the Process Intelligence Platform reads event data from systems such as SAP, Oracle and Salesforce, rebuilds how processes actually run and points to where they can be fixed, and newer products put AI agents on top of that process data. Celonis was valued at $13 billion in 2022 and says it has more than 5,000 enterprise customers.

More than 3,000 people work at Celonis, in 17 offices across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, including Munich, New York, Raleigh, Aachen and Pristina. Its platform is built mainly in Java, with a C++ query engine behind PQL, the company's own Process Query Language, and it publishes PyCelonis, a Python library for working with the platform.
