Embracer Group

Embracer Group grew out of a games trading business started from his home in Varmland, Sweden, by Lars Wingefors when he was 13. It is headquartered in Karlstad, was listed through an IPO in 2016, and has traded on Nasdaq Stockholm since 2022. It has spun off parts of the group, including Fellowship Entertainment, Coffee Stain Group and Asmodee.

It is a holding group that owns and runs game studios, publishers and media businesses, including the studios Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal, Warhorse Studios, 4A Games, Flying Wild Hog, Zen Studios and Tripwire, the comics house Dark Horse, and the Darksiders franchise. Publishing runs through THQ Nordic and Plaion, and the group keeps the Embracer Games Archive.

According to its website, the group had nearly 5,000 people in close to 30 countries and 39 studios in 2026. The parent company itself is small, and each subsidiary does its own hiring, so openings are on the pages of THQ Nordic, Plaion, Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal, Dark Horse and others.
