MacPaw was founded in 2008 in Kyiv by Oleksandr Kosovan, who still leads it. Its mission is «we help machines help you».
It makes software for macOS and iOS: CleanMyMac, the Setapp subscription service for apps, ClearVPN, Moonlock for Mac security, Gemini, The Unarchiver and Encrypto.
About a third of the team works remotely from dozens of countries; the Kyiv office is a round-the-clock hub, and in 2023 MacPaw opened its first US office in Boston. It shares open-source Swift libraries on GitHub.
