Microsoft

Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen and made its name with MS-DOS and Windows. It is headquartered on its campus in Redmond, Washington.

Today its business rests on three pillars: productivity (Microsoft 365, Teams, LinkedIn), the Azure cloud, and personal computing (Windows, Surface, Xbox). It also owns GitHub and builds developer tools such as Visual Studio, VS Code and TypeScript.

Microsoft has offices in more than 100 countries and research labs in Redmond, Cambridge, Beijing, Bengaluru and elsewhere. It is a major partner of OpenAI and ships Copilot assistants across its products.
