Personio

Personio was founded in Munich in 2015 by Hanno Renner, Roman Schumacher, Arseniy Vershinin and Jonas Rieke, who met as students at the Center for Digital Technology and Management. Renner leads it as CEO; the company is privately held and was valued at $8.5 billion in 2022.

It makes HR software for small and mid-sized organizations: core HR, recruiting, onboarding, time tracking and absences, payroll, performance and compensation, workflow automation and an AI assistant. Personio says 16,000 businesses and about a million people use it.

About 1,500 people from 88 nationalities work at Personio, from offices in Munich, Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Dublin, Amsterdam and New York. The product combines a long-standing PHP application with newer services in Kotlin and Go, React and TypeScript on the front end, and runs on AWS.
