Sea

Sea was founded in Singapore in 2009 by Forrest Li as Garena, with Gang Ye as co-founder, and took the name Sea Limited in 2017, the year it listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

It runs three businesses: Shopee, an e-commerce platform across Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Brazil; Garena, which develops and publishes online games including Free Fire; and Monee, its digital financial services.

About 9,000 of Sea's more than 100,000 people work in research and development, in hubs across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, China, Brazil and beyond. Its research arm, Sea AI Lab, publishes open-source machine learning work such as EnvPool and PoolFormer.
