Shopify

Shopify was founded by Tobias Lütke and Scott Lake, who launched the platform in 2006, and is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada.

It is a commerce platform for millions of merchants, from first-time sellers to large brands: online stores, checkout and Shop Pay, point of sale, payments, shipping and apps built by its developer ecosystem.

Shopify runs one of the largest Ruby on Rails applications in the world and is "digital by design" - most people work remotely, with offices it calls Ports in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, New York and Bellevue.
