About
Airbnb began in 2007, when Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia put air mattresses on their San Francisco floor for conference guests; Nathan Blecharczyk joined them soon after. It is still headquartered in San Francisco.
It is a marketplace where hosts offer homes, rooms and unusual stays to travellers in almost every country, alongside experiences and services run by locals.
Airbnb is known for its design system and for open source used across the industry: Apache Airflow started there, as did the Lottie animation libraries and one of the most-followed JavaScript style guides.
