About

Boeing was founded on July 15, 1916, in Seattle by William E. Boeing. It moved its headquarters to Chicago in 2001 and, from 2022, to Arlington, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. It is incorporated in Delaware and listed on the New York Stock Exchange (ticker BA).

Boeing builds commercial airplanes, defense and space systems, and services for both. Its software and IT work sits inside those businesses: Boeing Global Services provides digital solutions and analytics, Defense, Space & Security includes cyber and information solutions, and its careers site lists software engineering, systems engineering, cybersecurity, data science and analytics, and IT roles. In India it runs a new Engineering and Technology Center in Bengaluru, and a 787 Interiors Responsibility Center with a design engineering team.

According to its 10-K for 2025, Boeing had approximately 182,000 employees on December 31, 2025, 14% of them outside the United States. Its 10-K lists major sites in Greater Seattle, Wichita, Charleston, Greater Los Angeles, St. Louis, Huntsville, Mesa and San Antonio in the United States, and abroad in Great Britain, Germany, Australia, China and India.
