About

Broadcom describes a history of more than 60 years that goes back to AT&T/Bell Labs, Lucent and Hewlett-Packard, and that grew through acquisitions including LSI, Broadcom Corporation, Brocade, CA, Symantec Enterprise Security and VMware. It is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and its common stock is listed on Nasdaq as AVGO.

It designs and supplies semiconductor solutions and infrastructure software. The chips cover AI data center networking and accelerated compute, Ethernet switches, network interface cards, broadband and wireless connectivity, and storage and industrial uses. The software side is built around VMware private cloud, plus mainframe, security and enterprise software from its other acquisitions.

According to its Form 10-K for fiscal 2025, Broadcom had about 33,000 employees on November 2, 2025, about 57% of them in research and development: roughly 49% in North America, 36% in Asia and 15% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It owns manufacturing sites in Fort Collins, Colorado, Singapore and Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, and keeps its main warehouse in Malaysia.
