Canva was founded in 2013 by Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht and Cameron Adams and is headquartered in Sydney. It set out to make design simple enough for anyone.

Its online platform covers presentations, social media graphics, documents, video, websites and print, with AI features across them; in 2024 it bought Affinity, the professional design apps built in Nottingham.

Canva works from campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Austin, London, Manila, Prague and Vienna, with smaller hubs in Australia, the United States, New Zealand and Beijing.
