About

Cloudflare was founded by Matthew Prince, Michelle Zatlyn and Lee Holloway and incorporated in 2009. It is headquartered in San Francisco and has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2019.

It started with a way to trace email spam and grew into a network that protects and speeds up websites and apps. That network now spans more than 330 cities in over 125 countries, and on top of it runs a developer platform: Workers serverless compute, Workers AI, storage and databases.

Cloudflare open-sources major pieces of its infrastructure, such as the Rust proxy framework Pingora, the QUIC library quiche and the workerd runtime, and its engineering blog is known for deep posts on networking and security. Its teams work from offices in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific, with Lisbon and London among the largest.
