Confluent was founded by the original creators of Apache Kafka, including Jay Kreps (CEO) and Jun Rao, and is headquartered in Mountain View, California. Its annual report for 2025 describes an agreed merger with IBM that was then still pending.
It builds data streaming software: Confluent Cloud, a fully managed Kafka service, Confluent Platform for on-premises use, Confluent Private Cloud and WarpStream, with connectors, stream governance, stream processing on Apache Flink, Tableflow, and AI offerings called Confluent Intelligence and Streaming Agents.
In its annual report Confluent had 3,241 employees in 27 countries at 31 December 2025, 51% of them in the United States, 20% in India and 7% in the UK. It leases offices in Mountain View, London, Bengaluru, Dubai and Singapore.
