About
Datadog was founded in New York in 2010 by Olivier Pomel and Alexis Le-Quoc, who had worked together at Wireless Generation; Pomel is also one of the original authors of VLC. It has been listed on Nasdaq since 2019.
Its platform brings metrics, traces, logs, user sessions and security signals together from a single agent and more than 1,000 integrations. About 32,700 customers in over 160 countries use it.
Datadog has a large engineering presence in France next to its New York headquarters. Its Agent and hundreds of integrations are open source, and the engineering blog describes in-house systems such as Husky, its event store, and a timeseries engine written in Rust.
