DeepL

DeepL was founded in Cologne in 2017 by Jarek Kutylowski, who leads it as CEO. It grew out of Linguee, the online dictionary, and launched the DeepL Translator the same year; the company, DeepL SE, is still headquartered in Cologne.

It builds language AI for businesses and individuals: DeepL Translator for text and documents in more than 100 languages, DeepL Write for editing, DeepL Voice for spoken conversations and an API for developers. DeepL trains its own models on in-house supercomputers, including an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with GB200 systems, and says more than 200,000 businesses use its products.

DeepL has more than 1,000 employees, with hubs in Cologne, Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, London, Amsterdam, Vienna, Tokyo and the United States. It publishes official client libraries for its API in Python, TypeScript for Node.js, Java, C#, PHP and Ruby, along with Go tools, on GitHub.
