eBay

eBay was founded in 1995 in San Jose, California, where it is still headquartered, and is listed on Nasdaq. It owns data centers in Utah and opened an office in the Salt Lake City suburb of Draper in 2013.

It runs online marketplaces at ebay.com and localized sites, with mobile apps, first-party advertising through Promoted Listings, Seller Capital financing, eBay Live shopping events, eBay Refurbished and trust programs such as the Authenticity Guarantee and Money Back Guarantee. In 2025 it enabled nearly 80 billion dollars of gross merchandise volume, with 135 million active buyers and 2.5 billion live listings, about 51% of volume outside the U.S.

eBay had approximately 12,300 people as of 31 December 2025, about 7,200 of them in the U.S. (2025 Form 10-K). It owns and leases property in the U.S. and 23 other countries.
