Flutterwave was founded in 2016 by Olugbenga Agboola and Iyinoluwa Aboyeji to make it easier for African businesses to accept and send payments anywhere in the world. It is headquartered in San Francisco and runs much of its operations from Lagos.
Its infrastructure lets businesses collect and pay out across Africa and beyond by card, bank transfer, mobile money and USSD, in more than 30 currencies. Products include online checkout, payment links, invoices, card issuing and the Send App for remittances.
Flutterwave's teams work in a dozen African cities and London. Its engineers build cloud-native microservices and public APIs, and the company maintains open-source SDKs for web and mobile on GitHub.
