About

GSC Game World is a Ukrainian video game developer founded in 1995 in Kyiv by Sergiy Grygorovych. Since 2020 it has been controlled by Maksym Krippa, who bought a 40% stake that year and a further 42% in 2023, and Ievgen Grygorovych is its CEO, according to Wikipedia. After the Russian invasion in 2022 it opened a second office in Prague, while the Kyiv studio kept working.

It builds large single-player games: the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, whose latest entry S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is credited on its website, and the Cossacks real-time strategy series. Its earlier games ran on the in-house X-Ray Engine, and later projects on the in-house Vital Engine. Its site describes it as a proudly Ukrainian developer with 35 years of making game worlds.

The company's own pages do not publish a headcount. Wikipedia gives 460 employees in 2024, and GameSpot coverage in 2025 reported more than 200 people still working in Kyiv after about 200 moved abroad in 2022. Its sites are Kyiv and Prague.
