About
HP traces its history to 1939, when Bill Hewlett and David Packard started Hewlett-Packard in a Palo Alto garage. In November 2015 the company split in two: the enterprise business became Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and the PC and printer business stayed with the original company, renamed HP Inc. It is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
It makes personal computers and printers and sells in more than 170 countries. Its PCs include the Elite and Pro business lines, Z workstations, Dragonfly, Spectre, Envy and Pavilion, and the Omen and Victus gaming lines; since buying Poly in 2022 it also makes headsets and video conferencing gear for hybrid work. In printing it sells office and home printers with the Instant Ink subscription, industrial graphics presses and 3D printing.
According to its annual report for fiscal 2025, HP employs about 55,000 people worldwide. Its major product development and manufacturing sites are in Palo Alto, Boise, Corvallis, Fort Collins, Fountain Valley, San Diego, Scotts Valley, Spring and Vancouver in the United States, Tijuana in Mexico, Sant Cugat del Valles near Barcelona, Kiryat Gat, Rehovot and Netanya in Israel, and Bengaluru, Penang, Singapore, Chongqing, Shanghai, Pangyo and Taipei in Asia.
