About
King was founded in August 2003 in Stockholm as Midasplayer.com and renamed King.com in 2005. Activision Blizzard bought it in February 2016, and Microsoft took it over with the Activision Blizzard acquisition in October 2023. It now sits in Microsoft's Xbox division and describes itself as an interactive entertainment company for the mobile world.
It has developed more than 200 titles. Its best-known games are Candy Crush Saga, released in 2012, Farm Heroes Saga and Bubble Witch, which play in the browser and as apps with progress synced across devices.
King does not publish a headcount on its own pages; Wikipedia cites about 2,000 employees in 2017, so the figure is old. Its careers site lists game studios in Stockholm, Malmo, London, Barcelona and Berlin, and offices in Dublin, San Francisco, New York and Malta, with Los Angeles named on its corporate page.
