About

Linear was founded in 2019 by Karri Saarinen, Jori Lallo and Tuomas Artman, and is backed by Sequoia Capital and Accel. It is a remote-first company: its careers page lists remote work as a principle, with the team spread across North America and Europe and a growing presence in Asia Pacific.

It builds Linear, a product development system for planning and building software, with issue tracking, projects, cycles, roadmaps, customer requests, insights, agents, coding sessions and mobile apps. The company says more than 40,000 companies use it, including OpenAI, Coinbase and Ramp. The product runs on TypeScript end to end, with a React front end, a Node and GraphQL back end, PostgreSQL and Redis, and its own real-time sync engine.

Linear keeps the team small. Wikipedia reports 80 employees at its June 2025 Series C round, and Linear does not publish a current headcount. It offers optional co-working offices in San Francisco, New York and London, and hires for an office-based sales team in Singapore.
