About

Mercedes-Benz Group goes back to 28 June 1926, when Benz & Cie. and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft merged to form Daimler-Benz. The company took the Mercedes-Benz name on 1 February 2022, after the truck business was spun off as Daimler Truck. It is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, and is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ticker MBG) as a member of the DAX.

Its software work centres on MB.OS, the in-house Mercedes-Benz Operating System, which its 2025 results release describes as rolling out across the whole portfolio together with MB.DRIVE driver assistance and the fourth-generation MBUX infotainment. Its main software subsidiary is Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation, founded in 1998 as a 100% subsidiary, with about 2,200 employees and headquarters in Ulm; it works on cyber security, in-car apps and digital car services. The Group also runs a software centre in Sunnyvale, California, where it presented MB.OS in 2023.

The Group's total headcount was not found on a page we could open. Its February 2026 results release says about 85,000 eligible employees in Germany covered by collective agreements share in the 2025 profit, so the company is far above 10,000 people. Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation names sites in Ulm, Stuttgart, Boeblingen, Karlsruhe and Berlin, and teams in India, Malaysia, South Africa and Spain.
