About

Miro began in 2011 as RealtimeBoard, an online whiteboard that Andrey Khusid and Oleg Shardin built in Perm, Russia, to help Khusid's design agency work with remote clients. It was renamed Miro in 2019, and Khusid still leads it as CEO.

Its visual workspace gives teams an infinite canvas for brainstorming, diagramming, agile planning, research and workshops, with AI features that turn ideas on the board into documents, prototypes and plans. Miro says more than 100 million users in 250,000 organizations work on it.

Miro is private and headquartered in Amsterdam and San Francisco, with more than 1,600 people in 13 hubs across 9 countries, from Austin, New York and Sydney to Berlin, Munich, Tokyo and Yerevan. The canvas is built in TypeScript, with Java and Kotlin services running on AWS.
