Perplexity

Perplexity is a privately held AI company founded in August 2022 by Aravind Srinivas, Denis Yarats, Johnny Ho and Andy Konwinski. It is headquartered in San Francisco, and its search product launched in December 2022.

It builds an answer engine that responds to questions with cited sources. Its job ads describe work on large language model inference, search infrastructure and web and mobile apps.

Perplexity does not publish a headcount, and third-party estimates conflict (52 employees in 2024 on Wikipedia, 80+ in October 2025 from a data vendor). Its own job board listed 132 open roles in October 2026.
