PhonePe

PhonePe is an India-headquartered digital payments company founded by Sameer Nigam, Rahul Chari and Burzin Engineer. Flipkart acquired it in 2016 (the page does not give a current owner) and the PhonePe app went live that year. Its registered office is in Bellandur, Bengaluru.

It builds consumer payments on UPI and other instruments, co-branded credit cards, mutual funds, gold, silver, insurance and lending, plus merchant products: Payment Gateway, offline payments, Payment Links, PhonePe Ads and merchant lending. Group brands include Share.Market for investing and Indus Appstore, an Android app store.

PhonePe does not publish a headcount on the pages checked. Third-party directories give figures from about 5,000 to over 20,000 that disagree with each other, so the size is left unknown. Its own pages name only Bengaluru as a site.
