Preply

Preply was founded in 2012 by Kirill Bigai and Dmytro Voloshyn, with the early team and product built in Kyiv. In January 2026 it raised a $150 million Series D led by WestCap at a $1.2 billion valuation.

It runs an online marketplace for one-to-one lessons with human tutors, mostly in languages, with AI tools around the lessons: lesson summaries, practice between classes and tutor matching. Preply Business sells language training to companies for their employees.

More than 700 people from over 60 nationalities work at Preply. Barcelona is where its headquarters and most of its staff are, with further hubs in Kyiv, New York (since 2023) and London (since 2024).
