About

Ring Ukraine is the Kyiv research and development centre of Ring, the smart home security company started in 2013 as Doorbot by Jamie Siminoff and renamed Ring in 2014. Ring is headquartered in Santa Monica, California, and has belonged to Amazon since April 2018. The Kyiv office opened in 2016, in the Toronto Kyiv business centre near Olimpiiska metro station.

Ring builds the Video Doorbell and other connected cameras, alarms and lighting. The Ukrainian teams were set up for computer vision, machine learning and data analysis on video from Ring's cloud, and later also worked on mobile and desktop apps, firmware and video streaming quality.

Ring Ukraine does not publish a headcount. Press reported about 30 people in December 2016 and about 445 in 2018; the current figure is unknown. Ring says its worldwide team started in a garage and Wikipedia gives about 1,300 employees for the whole company in 2018.
