About
Supercell is a mobile games company founded in Helsinki in 2010. It is still headquartered there, in its own office on the Jätkäsaari seafront, and has been majority-owned by Tencent since 2016, while running independently.
It makes free-to-play games that it runs for years: Hay Day and Clash of Clans (2012), Boom Beach (2014), Clash Royale (2016), Brawl Stars (2018), Squad Busters (2024) and mo.co (2025), with Merge Mansion joining from Metacore in 2026. Small independent teams build each game, and every one of them runs on Titan, Supercell's own game engine and editor tools.
According to its results for 2025, Supercell ended the year with 890 people, 30% more than a year earlier. Most of them work in Helsinki, where about two thirds of staff make games; Shanghai is its second-largest office and game studio, London has had a studio since 2025, and San Francisco and Seoul handle marketing and partnerships.
