Its software side is Woven by Toyota, a company 100% owned by Toyota Motor Corporation. It was established in April 2023 as the successor to Toyota Research Institute-Advanced Development, founded in March 2018. Woven builds Arene, a software platform that unifies and accelerates automotive software development, plus automated driving technology and cloud and AI infrastructure. It is also behind Woven City, a mobility test course at Susono, Shizuoka, developed jointly with Toyota Motor Corporation.
