About
VTEX was founded in 2000 in Rio de Janeiro by Geraldo Thomaz and Mariano Gomide de Faria, who still lead it as co-CEOs. The parent company was incorporated in the Cayman Islands in 2018 and its Class A shares have traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol VTEX since July 2021. It files annual reports on Form 20-F.
It builds a digital commerce platform for brands and retailers: the VTEX Commerce Platform, the VTEX Ads Platform and the VTEX CX Platform, with a low-code serverless development environment called VTEX IO. The platform runs on AWS and serves customers in 44 countries, according to the 2025 annual report.
VTEX's website gives a headcount of 1,300 employees. At the end of 2025 about 81% of staff were in Brazil, mainly in R&D, about 10% elsewhere in Latin America and about 9% outside the region. Its Brazilian engineering sites include Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Recife, Porto Alegre, Joao Pessoa and Maceio.
