Wipro

Wipro was founded in 1945 in Amalner, India, as Western India Vegetable Products, a maker of cooking oil. Under Azim Premji it moved into computers and then IT services in the 1980s. It is headquartered in Bengaluru, listed on the Indian stock exchanges, and its shares have also traded on the New York Stock Exchange since 2000.

It offers consulting, application and infrastructure services, cloud, data and AI, cybersecurity and engineering services, under offerings such as Wipro ai360 and Wipro FullStride Cloud. Its consulting arm Capco, bought in 2021, serves banks and insurers, and Designit is its design studio. Its revenue for the year to March 2026 was 10.5 billion US dollars.

According to its data for the quarter ended June 2026, Wipro had 243,044 people in 65 countries. Most of its engineers are in India, with Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Kolkata as the largest sites, and it runs delivery centres in Poland, Romania, Portugal, the Philippines, China, Mexico and Brazil.
