About
Wolt was founded in 2014 in Helsinki, Finland, by a founding team of six that included Miki Kuusi, who remains its chief executive. It joined DoorDash (NASDAQ: DASH) in a deal that closed on May 31, 2022, and Kuusi now leads DoorDash's international business outside the US. Its headquarters is in Helsinki.
It builds a delivery platform for restaurants, groceries and other local goods: the consumer app, Wolt+ subscription, Wolt Drive for merchant deliveries, Wolt Market grocery stores, Wolt for Work, Wolt Ads and Wolt Storefront. Wolt says its engineering teams choose their own tools, and its careers pages name Python, Kotlin, Scala, TypeScript, Swift, Go, Rust, C++, React, Flutter, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
Wolt reported about 3,740 employees at the end of September 2021 and around 10,000 at the end of 2023, working in 25 markets. Its careers site lists openings in more than 30 countries; engineering roles are posted mainly in Helsinki and Berlin, among others.
