Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for an experienced, highly effective problem solver to join our AI R&D team as a Principal Research Manager and help lead the development and delivery of solutions that will shape the next generation of immersive game experiences and tools. In this role, you will manage multidisciplinary projects that improve the user experience, game development pipelines, and the creative capabilities of our teams.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the AI Director to lead major new initiatives within the AI R&D team.
• Serve as a bridge between the East Coast and European time zones, for both AI teams and projects.
• Align and motivate your team around clearly defined goals. Build and maintain tight-knit, high-performing teams that can self-organise and achieve exceptional results.
• Unblock others. Identify and resolve bottlenecks and queues, and promote incremental delivery.
• Manage AI initiatives, balancing resources, ambition and time constraints. Identify risks and establish mitigation plans. Continuously seek to improve production processes (project planning, scoping, scheduling, roadmaps, requirements gathering, etc.).
• Establish and maintain relationships with key external partners.
• Advocate concrete, beneficial improvements, challenging the status quo with boldness and innovation.
• Collect, consider and respond to internal feedback, adjusting processes and approaches as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in software project management, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Full cycle of an AI product, an AI research project or video game development. Ideally, all three.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably in an Agile environment, with an emphasis on empowering and self-organising teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High emotional intelligence, demonstrated in every interaction.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and rally several teams around a common goal.
• Highly motivated, autonomous and able to solve problems proactively with minimal supervision. Seeks advice when needed. Takes responsibility for results, whatever they are.
• Intellectual curiosity. Humility and curiosity, with a constant search for learning opportunities, without being limited by the constraints of one's role or the company.
• Experience with industry project management tools (e.g. Hansoft, Jira, Confluence, the Office suite).
• Excellent analytical skills. Comfortable with data modelling and analysis.

Optional Skills Sought

• In-depth knowledge of the AI and video game industries.
• Good command of the Atlassian suite (Jira and Confluence).
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

Pay

Estimated pay range for this position: $108,100 - $178,400 CAD annually.

At CD PROJEKT RED, compensation for our roles in North America is determined based on competitive market data, geographic location, and individual factors tied to business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Final offers depend on job-related factors such as experience, qualifications, and location.
