Blind people will be able to see and paralyzed people will control technology: Musk announced two new Neuralink devices.
• Telepathy lets people with paralysis control a computer and gadgets with the power of thought (1,024 electrodes); it is currently undergoing clinical trials.
• Blindsight transmits images from cameras directly to the visual cortex to restore sight to the blind. It has Breakthrough Device status from the FDA, but is still at the preclinical stage.
Both implants are installed by a specialized R1 surgical robot, which bypasses the brain's blood vessels.
